Well this last week was insanely hectic. Since I'm really tired right now I'll give the extremely short version.
Basically my family sold the house, but the new owners wanted to move in within about a week. So we had to find a new house, find movers, pack the house, and move everything all within that week. We managed to find a house to rent for a while, but that fell through because the owner decided to be a butt (to put it nicely). Then while trying to find a new house the movers we found fell through, so after managing to get a new house to rent we went and found new movers. However the old movers suddenly decided that they'd do it after all and that we'd get fined if we canceled on them, so we had to cancel the new movers.
So by now it's Wednesday and we have to be out of the house by Friday morning, but the movers don't show up. After a boat load of phone calls they finally arive Thursday night a 9:00 PM, leaving us 12 hours to get out of the house. But we still need to pack over half the house. Knowing that we'd never be able to pack the house in time we got movers that would also pack as well as ship, but since they were a day and a half late we were really having to scramble. The movers work until midnight and decide that they're too tired and go to find a hotel, then don't show up back at the house until 10:30 AM the next day. So now we're already an hour and a half late getting out and the new owner's wife is having a fit (the husband was fine with it all). So at this point my parents and I step in and start working to get everything packed and hauled in order to get done ASAP and we end up working from 10:30 AM Friday to 3:30 AM Saturday. At this point most of the things were packed so my father and I haul everything that's left into the garage so that we'd be out of the new owner's way when they start moving in, the truck is full, and this will actually be their second trip to the rental to unload. I had to stay behind and watch a friend's dog, but my parents went to the new place with the movers and helped unload, also the movers picked up a couple of guys and payed them to help unload everything in order to get things done faster. This was not so great of a thing since one of them swiped my mother's credit cards before leaving. After a few hours of rest they came back to the old house where I was waiting for them and I supervised the loading of the last of our things at 10:00 AM Saturday morning.
So, now we're in the house that we're renting and taking our time to unpack things. We're also having to do major cleaning and some renovation of the house since the previous tenants left the house an absolute wreck. They tore up pretty much ever electronic appliance, after steam cleaning the carpets twice we're still getting coffee colored water coming up, had to pull all kinds of junk out of the sink pipes in order to get it to drain, had to cut knee high grass, and to top it off they left the waterline open to the washing machine with no watching machine, so when the utilities guys came and turned on the water mains for us it flooded half the house.
*Breaths in deeply* And yes, that was the extremely condensed version.
I'm just happy that it all worked out in the end and that I can finally relax.
